At 2 years, 5 months, 8 days old:

The other day we were eating dinner and Cale asked for a cookie. He was all done with his food but I told him he needed to wait until mommy and daddy were finished eating, too. He said ok and sat on the couch between us and just sat so patiently. I finished my food and Cale said “Are you all done eating, mommy?” I said yes. He waited awhile longer until daddy was all finished and Cale said “Are you all done eating, daddy?” Once daddy said yes, Cale turned to me and said very slowly and deliberately, “Now… May I have a cookie, please?”
